Rex Ryan – Lap Band Surgery

NFL Coach Rex Ryan has always been comfortable with his 230lbs weight and a 36-inch waist. It wasn’t until he weighed 348 pounds before the 2009 AFC Championship Game, that he decided to change his lifestyle. Rex Ryan underwent a lap band surgery in 2010, which led to him massively dropping 120lbs off of his weight. Lap band surgery is the application of a plastic band designed to wrap around the top of a wider stomach. While in place, an expanded stomach shrinks, leaving less space for food, giving the user a feeling of fullness.

Because of the procedure, Coach Ryan had to consume a fluid diet while his body was adjusting. Six years later, the BIlls Coach underwent an arthroscopic operation to remove his lap-band. Rex gained approximately 30 pounds back after the procedure. He left the NFL in 2014 and his net worth remains undisclosed. But by evaluating the amount each coach receives per win in a season can give us a ballpark idea of how wise they’ve turned out to be in their investments.
