Khaliah Ali – Lap-band Surgery

At a very young age, she knew what fame and being in the spotlight were all about. As the daughter of boxer Muhammad Ali, this made her feel more self-conscious than ever, and it also forced her into overeating for warmth. Ali tied the knot to a Philly Lawyer, Spencer Wertheimer, in 2008. She ballooned to 335 pounds after giving birth to their son and had her share of embarrassing encounters.

She realized that everything had to change radically at that moment. She took the courage to undergo lap band surgery in 2004. Khaliah, who is down to 158 pounds, has written a book on her surgical progress called Fighting Weight, and she hopes it will teach lessons to other large-framed Americans. She launched her online boutique ‘ShopHQ’ where women can buy clothes according to their unique shapes and sizes.
